Not necessarily. A lot runs on the flows already included in Microsoft 365. As soon as premium connectors, Dataverse or unattended RPA runs are involved, a paid licence is required — either per user or per flow. Which model is cheaper depends on how many people are involved; we calculate both in the intro call.
That is exactly the difference between a flow clicked together and one fit for production. We build in retries, error branches and alerting so a failure is reported rather than going unnoticed. On top of that comes a monitoring view showing which flow ran how often and where it gets stuck.
Yes. Where no API exists, desktop flows operate the application the way a person would — that is robotic process automation. It is the bridge to legacy systems that cannot be replaced in the short term. Unattended runs require the corresponding licence and a machine for the flows to run on.
Microsoft ships over 500 prebuilt connectors, which cover most common systems. Where one is missing — there is no official connector for bexio, for instance — we build a custom connector for your tenant. Your team then uses it in flows like any other connector.
That is the most common reason automation quietly dies. Which is why environments, ownership and documentation belong in from the start — flows run under a service account rather than a person, and who may change what is defined. On request we take over operations entirely.
