Engytec AG in Rotkreuz was a BKW group company — founded in 2017 by BKW and smart-me, trading as BKW Smart Energy & Mobility AG from 2021 and merged into BKW Energie AG in 2023. BKW runs Microsoft Dynamics CRM, and with the roll-out at Engytec the subsidiary was to work in it as well. Its accounting, quotes included, ran in bexio. What was needed was a bridge between BKW's Dynamics CRM and bexio — without double entry.
There was no official bexio connector for the Microsoft world in 2019; anyone who wanted to link the two systems had to build the integration themselves. So the first conversations in autumn 2019 were about fundamentals: how to use the bexio API and its authentication.
We built the integration between Dynamics and bexio. In February 2020 we trained the team in Rotkreuz on the CRM and planned the go-live. From April to July 2020 we tested in several rounds with Engytec and BKW — field mappings for companies, contacts, opportunities, quotes and projects, plus documentation and the data migration from bexio into the CRM. The bug list from that period was refreshingly concrete: product names too long here, HTML formatting from bexio fields there. At the beginning of August 2020 the integration went live.
That first version grew into our bexio connector for Dynamics 365 — today listed as a ready-made solution on Microsoft AppSource.
